MOSCOW SIGHTSEEING


MOSCOW CITY TOUR
The tour starts in the heart of the city, at the Red Square. After observing St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin Mausoleum, the State Historical Museum and other sights of the area we move along the Moskva River embankment. On the way, we enjoy views of Kremlin, and continue to the Cathedral of the Christ the Savior, New Maidens Convent, Moscow State University. Visit to the Sparrow Hills observation spot opens outstanding view on Moscow. Then we travel to the Memorial Complex at Poklonnaya Hill and Victory Park, Triumphal Arch, Kutuzovsky Avenue, New Arbat, Boulevard ring, Pushkin square, Tverskaya street and end the tour at Manezhnaya Square.

KREMLIN AND THE CATHEDRALS
Moscow Kremlin is a unique architectural ensemble. It is famous for the ancient Sobornaya (Cathedrals') Square and cathedrals: Cathedral of the Annunciation; Assumption Cathedral where Russian tsars and imperators were crowned; Cathedral of the Archangel was a burial place for Grand Princes; Church of the Deposition of the Robe; the Patriarch's Chambers; Ivan the Great Bell Tower. The world-famous Tsar Canon and Tsar Bell became symbols of Moscow, and at the Senate Square, one can see buildings of former Senate and Arsenal (monument of architecture of Peter the Great time). The Great Kremlin Palace used to be a residence of Russian tsars and imperators; nowadays it is a residence of Russian President.

KREMLIN AND ARMORY MUSEUM
The world famous museum-treasury occupies the specially constructed building of the middle XIX century. It has unique collection of ancient state regalia, gold and silver utensils, Tsars apparels and sacerdotal robes, weapons, luxury carriages and harness.

KREMLIN AND DIAMOND FUND
In the Diamond fund exposition, one can see Tsars regalia, the crown of the Russian Empire, Russian and foreign medals, the biggest gold and platinum bars found in Russia, giant diamonds, numerous pieces of jewelry.
TRETYAKOV GALLERY The State Tretyakov gallery is a national museum of Russian art of X-XX centuries. Russian factory owner Pavel Tretyakov founded it in XIX century, and now the Gallery is one of the largest museums in Russia.

NEW MAIDENS CONVENT
The Convent was founded by Vasily III in 1524 in honor of return the lands of Smolensk town to Russia. Strategic location to the southeast of Moscow near a passable part of Moskva-River, determined the Convent also as a fortress, playing role in important events of the Russian history. The museum of the Convent has big collection of Russian icons, jewelry, embroidery and books. Many well-known Russian people were buried in the necropolis of the Convent.

KOLOMENSKOE ESTATE
This is a former residence of Russian Tsars and princes, located in the outskirts of the city. In the XVI century Kolomenskoe was a favorite estate of the Great Prince Vasily III and then - of his son Ivan the Terrible. The oldest building in the Estate is the unique Church of Ascension, built in 1532. The church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist became a prototype of St. Basil's Cathedral at the Red Square.

MOSCOW METRO
The first line of Moscow metro was opened in 1935 and connected 13 stations. Nowadays, Moscow metro has 150 stations and it is considered the most beautiful in the world. Many of its stations look like palaces and have marble columns, sculptures, inlays, stained-glass windows and other decorations. The metro is the main mean of transportation in Moscow.

SPASO-ANDRONIKOV MONASTERY
The Monastery is situated on a picturesque bank of Yauza River in the outskirts of Moscow, and it was founded in XIV century. The Monastery was named after the first its Prior Andonik, the follower of St. Sergius Radonezhsky. Among the memorials of the Monastery, one can find the oldest Moscow building - Savior's Cathedral painted by famous Andrey Rublev and the Central museum of ancient Russian culture and art, which hosts a huge collection of icons, manuscripts, books and frescos.
